The flip side

I rarely have a week full of stress, mayhem, and sickness. A week when all I want to do is curl up in bed and wake up 7 days later. That never happens to me, mostly because I can never sleep during the day.
I started the week off with flu, 2 articles to write, 2 analytical essays on poetry and Hamlet, dvd's to upload and re-edit, calling mothers of my students who never showed up to lessons, wasting time waiting for said students, preparing and giving 2 lessons, the oven giving up the ghost when I have to make dinner, J contracting the flu (oy vey!), and a few other trying health issues in the process of being figured out. However, with that said, there have been wonderful things to counteract that insanity, namely: spending a whole week with the love of my life, cuddling up on the couch with him whilst watching our favourite shows, having an impromptu dessert date, witnessing the kindness of neighbours who fixed the oven and let us use theirs, the abundance of glorious sunshine, finding the brightest yellow top and buying it, getting 2 more extra hours at work on Friday's (this may sound horrible but it's a huge blessing), my sweet brother S making an entire blog dedicated to me (myawesomesister.wordpress.com), talking to my great examples Stayci and Aunt Pearl for their birthdays, receiving a special visit from my amazing friend Annaline who brought me the most beautiful orange and yellow flowers, and then spending Friday night with them for our usual 'Jake Date' (lol).
This makes me realize some very important things: I'm extremely blessed. Extremely. I'm completely overwhelmed by the goodness of others, even when they themselves are going through difficulty. Life is full of ups and downs and there are things that happen with no explanation why, but at the end of the day I'll take it all. Because that means I'm alive. I'm grateful to be alive. I have much to learn, too much in fact, but I'm grateful for another day to do so. In the words of Annaline, "we're being moulded" and "we'll understand what others won't".
I believe it.

The Scooters Pizza experience

My little brother Scott is basically a pizza connoisseur. He adores pizza. Particularly cheese pizza. So seeing as he celebrated his birthday earlier this year in a foreign land, our birthday treat to him was an IOU pizza. Today I took him out for a little bro/sis pizza date at Scooters.
For a large Margarita priced at only R39,00 even frugal ol' me was happy to part with my pretty penny, er cents. We took our tasty morsel down to Eastern Beach to overlook the rolling dirty waves, listen to some music, talk and indulge in the cheesy goodness.
And you know what, I'd do it again, so long as I'm with my bro.

Guess who's here?

The Crous House!

For the past 2 weeks we've been enjoying countless Scrabble games, writing stories, watching movies, baking and scoffing our faces with cinnamon rolls, drinking gallons of hot chocolate, shop. shop. shopping, special FHE's, prayers and scripture study, more games, library excursions, and surely more to come...

In a word: Awesome!
