Admirals

Before the Uruguay/Germany game on the 10th of July, we went to have dinner at Admirals - one of the only buffet restaurants in our region, well in Port Elizabeth anyway. We went with these awesome friends (namely Bishop, Hayley, Corith, Candice and her parents):

AH their food selection was out of this world! They even had candy floss for pudding! Amongst their finest selections were (click to enlarge)...

Which Jarom tried ALL of! And the verdict? Kangaroo is tough, mapane worms taste like teabags, kudu aint lekker, and crocodile? well that tastes like chicken, of course!

Having the option of eating these things is just another reason why we love our homeland! :)

The Minimalist Life

This is it. The new home post. Finally eh! We thought we had a lot of stuff until we moved into here, lol. It sure is easier to keep clean and tidy though! So here's the grand tour...

The Study, complete with LOTS of cupboards - a novelty for us! (we also just got the 2 desks for a bargain and a half!):

And the best part of our new place is that we get to keep our beloved forest view:

Its a work in progress of course, but we're enjoying saving up for new furniture. Until then, this is how us minimalists live! Also notice there are no burglar bars in this place as we have an alarm system! So now that we're growing up and growing into our new home, please start planning a trip to stay with us! (Its a good excuse to clear out the dumping ground!)

Farewell 19 McJannet!

On the 1st of July we packed up our belongings and moved...down the road. It was a little sad saying goodbye to our first home together as a married couple.

Here is what we'll miss:

1) The view of the forest from the deck

And that's about it!

This is what we will not miss:

1) Unfinished air vents 2) lack of air and space 3) mould on the bathroom wall & ceiling 4) the smell of mould hitting you in the face each time you enter the flat! lol!

We went to visit our favorite neighbors last Friday and we saw our landlord has just put in 3 new windows into our old home. eish. But after all is said and done this little home served us well, we met some great friends (who loan us Andre Rieu DVD's) and Paul our landlord was a star!

Jarom's Day

I am most thankful for the 28th of June because my dear husband Jarom was born! This year he turned the big 25! Halfway to 30, half of 50...scary maybe? His birthday fell on Monday, so hopefully he had a good start to the week. We celebrated at home with a nice dinner consisting of basil chicken and veg on our makeshift table.

There's a few things you should know about how wonderful my 25 year old husband is: 1) He never complains 2) He is hardworking 3) He will bend over backwards to help you out 4) He makes sacrifices to serve the Lord 5) He has a strong testimony and shows great faith, but the greatest thing you should know about Jarom is that he is my example. I love you J! Live it up in your 25th year!

PS) Please encourage him to spend his birthday money on a new pair of shoes he's been wanting! :)

Miracle

About 3 weeks ago we went to P.E to see the Cote d'Ivore/Portugal game and decided to document the start of that good day. In our excitement we momentarily left the boot open and turned our backs when this happened (yes we have learnt our lesson thankyouverymuch):

See where the arrow is pointing...thats the dude who took the liberty of stealing my church bag. It happened in an INSTANT. Anyway, after we discovered the missing bag we cancelled my bank cards and said a prayer pleading the Lord to help us find the bag, if not the bag then at least the scriptures as that meant the most to me. A week or so later we returned back to P.E to watch 2 more games when J received a message to urgently please call a certain number. Not one to respond to such messages he felt he needed to. On the other end was a man named Fred who said he found my bag -- ACROSS THE ROAD FROM A CHURCH! WOAH! We hurried to meet up with him and he gave my bag back to me - and it had everything in it (even my beloved library card lol)! This proves 2 things: Firstly, despite what some people think, there are still honest people in the world (big thumbs up to Fred!) and second, Heavenly Father lives and answers prayers!

FEEL IT, IT IS HERE!

Wow! The World Cup fever has bitten us both HARD! J of course is in his absolute element with non-stop footie. Thanks to J's forward thinking he got us tickets for 4 games last year before ticket prices shot through the roof. The first game we attended in June was Cote d'Ivoire vs. Portugal - really riveting game, then 2 weeks later we returned to P.E to watch 2 more matches at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (which by the way is world class! Well done Safrica!) - Switzerland vs. Chile and England vs. Slovenia. The England game was out of this world with the amount of English fans singing away! Too bad they're out of the cup....any ideas on what to do with that England flag now? Here's a couple pics from the games:

We're off to P.E again on the 10th for match 63 - the second last one! Kick off is at 20:30! Can't wait! Feeling so blessed to be here in de Sud Afrique and to be able to witness this event in person!
