Adventures in Kei Mouth

Saturday the 24th to Tuesday the 27th the entire Wainwright family (minus Seth) took this long weekend off to spend time in Kei Mouth which is merely 45 min away from E.L. Whats in Kei Mouth you ask? Why the beach of course!



We stayed at Kei Sands resort in a sweet 3 bedroom place. We spent our time relaxing, reading books, walking on the beach, fishing, cooking tasty food, and playing board games. On Monday we did something truly out of this world. The guys hit up the golf course and us gals went horse riding! This lady and her husband own 60 horses out there and offer riding lessons of sorts. For three hours she taught us to control the horse, how to stand up in the saddle, trot and canter, without holding onto the reins!! I rode a docile horse named Gunston, who thankfully controlled himself rather well! We rode through the bush and on the beach. Man it was exhilirating! At one point we even rode the horse backwards! Talk about skill...where's the number for the circus...
And my souvenir from that awesome experience? A hectic case of John Wayne...ouch.

Oh and we even rescued a little stranded turtle being eaten alive by nasty bacteria!

It was a wonderful getaway!

Seth and Scott's day!

In our books, the 17th of April is one of the most important! why? Well it marks the 9th year of Master Scott Crous (L's bro) and the 21st year of our missionary hero brother Seth (who is still out there serving in Kenya! When Seth returns home we'll dedicate an entire post to him). We are so grateful for both of them!

Can't believe 9 years ago on the 17th of April, you were born and now you've almost lived a decade! Scott, our lives were made better when you were born! Thank you for teaching us many good life lessons. You're one of a kind! Here are some of the many things we love about you:

The Life of a Chaperone

This past weekend we once again were chaperones for the YSA Convention held in Hogsback. It is only an hour and a half away from E.L, tucked away in the mountains, completely surrounded by trees, fresh air, and solitude. It is so silent you can actually hear your brain working!

On Friday upon arrival we secured beds in the boys/girls dorms, ate dinner, played games and made new friends with the Banfield's from P.E (well originally from CPT - represent!). Early Saturday morning (early as in 6 AM), everyone arose to perform a service project for Hobbiton where we stayed. We painted a dorm and performed other various fixer-upper tasks. All that is, except for J who took the liberty to snooze through it all. lol! The rest of the day we were divided into teams (we were on red team) to play games, such as giant football, balloon popping, and various obstacle courses designed to build teamwork. What fun!! That evening was a dance that we were in charge of. We put up posters in the hall and blew up gazillions of balloons to hang up from the ceiling. J showed off his awesome DJ skills and provided all the hot music for the singles to dance to.

Sunday we packed our bags, ate a hearty breakfast, enjoyed a lovely testimony meeting, and parted ways. Just as we were about to leave, Brother Brian Corrigan (who resides in Hogsback with his wife, sister Shirley) asked if J and I would like to spend an extra night there at May Lodge (a four star lodge they run). Seriously did we need to think about that?!?! :)

May Lodge is BEAUTIFUL!!!! They put us up in one of their luxurious cottages. Ah it was bliss!

We took a long nap in the peaceful gardens, soaking in that gorgeous hot sun. Afterwards Bro and Sis Corrigan took us on a drive to some breathtaking sites -- to a lake as still as glass reflecting the mountains, and up on a hill where we watched the majestic azure sunset! We had a tasty dinner with them and then turned in for the night. You really appreciate a good night's rest after you spend a weekend with a bunch of YSA! haha! It restored our peace of mind! We are truly grateful for the generosity of Bro Brian and Sis Shirley! Love them both stax!! So you see, there's a lesson to be learned from this: you are blessed when you serve others. :)

That's right, I have once again returned to days of increased stress and applying my mind to gaining 'higher education'. This time I am studying for a BA in Language and Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing. So far I'm coping, thanks for wondering... I think I just may be addicted to learning. Cramming more knowledge into my brain gives me a thrill of note I tell you!
So if you are trying to get hold me and I do not answer my phone, please know that I am either a) catching up on sleep from pulling an all-nighter to complete an assignment b) studying for said assignment c) am tongue tired from reading all those big words!
